Sort marketplaces by what the platform does: a payment rail keeps 2 to 5 percent, a listing site keeps 15 to 30
Platforms that only list the product and carry the invoice and payment state small rates: AWS Data Exchange 3 percent of a public offer (1.5 to 3 percent of a private one) and Mozilla Data Collective 5 percent added to the buyer's price, with Google Cloud Marketplace's private-offer share at 98 percent to the vendor and Snowflake's rate shown only in the provider account. Platforms that also promote the listing and sell on commission state far more: Datarade takes 30 percent with no annual fee, 20 percent with $6,000 a year or 15 percent with $12,000 a year, and DataVendor 20 percent of earnings at withdrawal. A managed licensor that prepares the data and finds the buyer is reported higher again (Troveo 40 percent in one reported contract version). A seller's cost therefore depends less on which logo carries the sale than on who does the selling.

- Net a 3 percent fee out of an AWS Data Exchange price, and sell large contracts as private offers
- Price a Mozilla Data Collective listing knowing the buyer pays 5 percent on top and no payout day is promised
- Mark a Mozilla Data Collective dataset non-exclusive at upload if you sell the same data elsewhere
- Read the payout clock, not the sale date: every platform that states one starts it when the buyer has paid
- Datarade and data providers: broker economics, datasets
- Datarade (Monda) and data providers: broker economics, datasets (general data marketplace)
