Records / Negotiation levers

Data a firm makes to sell is bought through a different door: as a catalogue product or as paid labour, priced per unit and sold to many

The firms that take made or compiled data say so in other words than the record buyers. Datarade lists "Web Scraping Data" and "Synthetic Data" among its AI training data categories and says training data "can be collected, curated, and annotated by humans or generated through simulations"; Surge sells "Frontier data and RL environments, off the shelf"; Protege made a contributor-network company's datasets "available for AI training and evaluation via the Protege platform"; Kled turns "custom dataset requests into real-world contributions at scale"; Centific prices employee annotation "separately from the data license"; Amazon's AGI data team creates training data in house. Even here the buyers ask for real human data: Sunain's datasets come from people "rather than relying on synthetic or simulated alternatives" and HUMXN says the next leap "won't come from more scraped data". micro1 resells such off-the-shelf data at 80 to 90 percent gross margin (held row micro1-off-the-shelf-dataset-gross-margin).
