For a news archive there is no going rate: ask each outlet's own price, and expect asks and offers a factor of ten apart
The Korea Press Foundation, the trustee that sells outlets' news as data, tried in 2024 to put outlets into three price groups around a reference of KRW 10 million for one outlet's news data for one year, but dropped the grouping because the amounts outlets wanted differed too much; since 30 September 2024 each outlet sets its own price and may change it monthly. Earlier, when Samsung Electronics asked in 2023 to buy 15 years of news data from 30 outlets, the foundation's committee and the distributor held views 'a few hundred million won' and 'two to three billion won' apart, and talks were paused. The newspaper association also warned that one outlet's low supply price could be taken for the market price. The one completed sale the press cites is 30 regional outlets' ten years of data for about KRW 960 million in 2019.
