Google's Search Console based pilot pays a publisher when it judges the content meaningfully contributed to an AI answer, shows a monthly earnings figure, and states no formula. Digiday quotes a publisher executive calling early returns peanuts against ad revenue and another calling offers lowball numbers. Google says its news AI scheme involves more than 200 titles worldwide.
