Treat the UK and US collective AI training licences as an opt-in side route with no published price, never as the benchmark for a catalogue
On 26 October 2026 neither collective AI training licence for books published a fee or a payout. The UK Copyright Licensing Agency's product page describes a Generative AI Solution for opted-in published content (training, fine-tuning and retrieval) and states no fee or payment formula, and its October 2025 report said it was still working with its members to launch the training licence. The US Copyright Clearance Center announced its AI Systems Training License on 4 March 2025 as a voluntary, non-exclusive collective licence, to be available later in 2025. The only measured collective AI income found is the CLA's £223,147 in one quarter for prompting, not training.
