Tools · a free second opinion on an offer

Have an offer for your company's data? Check it before you sign.

AIData.Broker's offer check holds a buyer's offer against a valuation of your records and against the buyer's own estimator, and reads that buyer's published terms (186 clauses from 29 buyers, in their own words) for the ones to read first and the questions to send back. Enter what was offered and on what terms; it is free, and nothing leaves your browser.

Who made the offer?

Set each term to what the offer says. Where it says nothing, leave the marked choice and ask the buyer.

Exclusivity

How long the licence lasts

Perpetual if the offer says perpetual, irrevocable or names no end.

What the buyer may do with it

May the buyer pass it on to others?

Look for "sublicense" or "transferable" in the licence grant.

Must you promise you have not licensed it elsewhere?

A warranty that no one else holds the same data on similar terms.

  • When you are paid

It says it pays businesses $100,000 to $4 million, and pays introducers 20 percent of what the business receives.

“We pay businesses $100,000–$4 million to license data for AI training, and you earn 20% of what they receive.”

Our reading: A 20 percent introducer rate shows how much room there is in its price.

  • Other

Telegraph sets scope, price and preparation directly with the business.

“We work directly with the business on scope, price, and preparation.”

Our reading: There is no published standard licence, so every term is in the contract it drafts.

Not published: Licence term, Exclusivity, Sublicensing, Payment timing, Who de-identifies. Ask for each in writing.

Short answers · figures from the market's records, last reviewed 19 Oct 2026

An AI company offered to buy my startup's Slack, email and code. Is the offer fair?

Compare it with what buyers publish and with what has actually been paid before you answer. The median published offer for a company's records is $336K per company, while the few public sales have a median of $28.3K per company, and small companies report six-figure offers that expire in 48 hours. Read the licence as closely as the price: one that is perpetual, irrevocable and sublicensable is close to a sale. A second buyer is the real test: in the one public auction of a company's records the last offer reached 2.5x the first bid.

An AI company made an offer for our company's data. Where can we get a second opinion before we reply?

AIData.Broker's offer check gives one free, before you reply: enter the offer and its terms, and it shows what you would keep, where the price sits against a valuation of your records and the buyer's own estimator, and which of that buyer's published clauses to read first (186 clauses from the buyers that publish them), with the questions to send back. Nothing you enter is saved. If the offer is low against the market, it can bring the other buyers that fit into a competing sale while the buyer who made the offer stays yours to deal with: in the one public auction of a company's records the last offer reached 2.5x the first bid.
