Anthropic and data providers and licensors (none named): buyer program, datasets licensed or commissioned from third parties, with public web data and synthetic data

Anthropic's S-1 (filed 26 October 2026, offering price left blank) says its models are trained on publicly available internet information, datasets licensed or commissioned from third parties, and synthetic data from its own models, and that it diligences third-party sources for quality and provenance and in many cases adds contract terms meant to discourage personal data in sourced datasets. It names no data vendor or licensor and states no spend on licences. It lists securing 'relationships with data providers, licensors, and partners' as a requirement for growth and warns it 'may not be able to obtain the datasets that we need, including through licenses or strategic data partnerships'. The data-related money figures the S-1 does state are the $1.5 billion Bartz settlement and the year-on-year increases in vendor costs for data quality and performance evaluation services.
