Offer book titles one AI use at a time and ask for a price for each use
Bookpact, launched in June 2026 by the Dutch publishers VBK, WPG, Lannoo and Maven with the distributor CB, lets a publisher (with the author's consent) say which titles may be used and for what licensed use (training, translation, summarization), and AI companies then submit offers per title. The UK PLS collective scheme (March 2026) likewise lets a publisher choose its content and whether it is licensed for training, fine-tuning or retrieval-augmented generation. More than 250 UK publishers had opted in by June 2026. Neither source read gives a price.
