Character.AI (Character Technologies, Inc.): acquired by Disney Worldwide Services, Inc. (The Walt Disney Company)
$20 million plus transition services from former Character.AI employees Disney has hired, for a non-exclusive perpetual licence of certain Character.AI intellectual property and certain claims; not a purchase of the company. Agreed before the 12 October 2026 chapter 11 filing (Bankr. D. Del. 26-11603) and open to higher or better offers under section 363; closing expected late November or early December 2026. The release says nothing about user data or the pending chatbot lawsuits; the reported terms leave the app, brand, user data and conversation logs in the estate (see the supply record character-ai-estate-user-chats-no-data-buyer), and the states' conditions on any sale of chats are held as case 2026-10-character-technologies-chapter-11-state-attorneys-general-notice-of-interest.

(“Disney”) under which Disney will serve as stalking horse bidder for a non-exclusive perpetual license of certain Company intellectual property and certain Company claims, in exchange for $20 million and Disney’s provision of transition services using former Company employees it has hired.”
It is shown on its own, not counted into a figure.
