Gazette P.U.(B) 522: the 2024 amendment of section 129 came into operation on 1 April 2025 (Personal Data Protection (Amendment) Act 2024 [Act A1727], Appointment of Date of Coming into Operation, P.U.(B) 522 of 24 Dec. 2024)
Section 12 of the amending Act, which rewrote the cross-border transfer rule in section 129, has been in force since 1 April 2025, so the current rule is the self-assessment one described above, not the old list of approved countries.
